FEATURED SCULPTURE

When I had mede these book-ends, I realised that they could be placed in different ways, as a sort of mood indicator. Which amused me. There are friendly and no-so-friendly modes, as well as a circus-mode!

  • Fish on stick

    2024, £500.

Ancaster weatherbed. 15x15x8 without pole. I liked the idea of having a fish swimming among the flowers!

  • Turtle

    2020, £1,000

Ancaster limestone on ancaster weatherbed. 44 x 34 x 44. I spent some time watching the turtles at an aquarium with my granddaughter. I love the slow way they glide though the water. This is a larger piece, and would be suitable for outdoor use, as long as it was brought indoors in winter.

  • Play your own melody

    2021, £600

Ancaster Limestone. 30x30x10. This was done in lockdown, when my mind was on musicians, who usually play with others. The thought of playing by yourself morphed into the idea of playing yourself as the instrument. This is intended to be wall mounted.

  • Circular Bird

    2019, £600

Ancaster limestone. 25 x 22 x 8. I was interested in the roundness of birds, and thought that one which fitted inside a circle would make a beautiful shape, sort of self-contained. I also like the sense that, any minute now, the bird will escape the circle and fly away.

  • Elephant Bookends

    2024, £400

Ancaster limestone. 8 x 12.5 x 12 each. These are inspired by my wonderful daughter-out-law. She is an inspiring woman on all levels. And an avid reader. I’m a big fan! Discovered that you can also use them as a mood indicator, depending on which way they are turned!

  • Sleeping bird/whale

    2020, £300

Polyphant and gold leaf. 20 x 20 x 16.. Initially just meant to carve the sleeping bird, then looked at the other side and saw a whale.

  • Freja

    2024, £800

Ancaster limestone on a sandstone base. 20x14x34. This is a spring piece, named after the Nordic god of beauty and fertility.

  • Alabaster woman

    2022, £850

17x58x18. White Alabaster. This was inspired by the shape of the stone. I had a long, slender piece of stone, which suggested this woman.

  • Green bird 1

    2022, £500

Green soapstone. 12x45x7.5. Mounted on brass and York stone. This is the first of a series. The stone was oddly shaped, which suggested this stretching, slightly wonky bird.

  • Green bird 3

    2022, £550

Green soapstone and 24ct gold leaf. 16x46x16. Mounted on brass and wood. This stone turned out to be a very different soapstone, and I retained some of its craggy features, enhancing them with gold leaf.

  • Green bird 2

    2022, £500

Green soapstone. 19x24x19. Mounted on brass and wood. This is the second of three green soapstone birds. I imagined this as pecking for food.

  • Moongazing cow

    2020 & 2022, £1100

Kilkenny limestone. 23x32x15. I love the shape of cows, and thought a black cow would be good. The stone suggested the shape.

  • Alabaster whales

    2024, £600

White alabaster and kilkenny limestone base. 10x8x27. I had in mind that whales swim with their offspring, and seem to have loving, playful relationships within their family groups. The larger piece of had a flaw, which has been repaired with gold.
